“Inteliam scorecards are set to become a standard measure in business interactions”
Sanders Parts, a Belgian company specialised in supplying spare parts for MAN, Volvo and Mercedes trucks, trailers and buses, completed its second Inteliam assessment. Niels Sanders, Managing Director, accepted to share his experience and his vision of the solution.
Having just completed your second assessment, how would you summarize your experience?
The Inteliam solution involves an intensive questionnaire, demanding substantial effort, but the rewards are significant. It's a reminder to step back from day-to-day operations and focus on the core elements of our business. The process is rigorous, but I always come out of it pleased, having gained valuable insights. The Inteliam team is really supportive, providing guidance and helping us improve our scorecard each year.
Your current score surpasses last year's. What actions led to this improvement?
A key improvement this year was achieving our GDPR compliance certificate, which directly addressed a critical element of the Inteliam questionnaire. This step marked a significant advancement in our adherence to data protection and privacy standards. Following this, we concentrated on expanding the electrification of our vehicle policy across the company: for instance, we added charging stations for electric cars at our warehouse. These are just a few examples of the many concrete actions we've taken. Our approach is to prioritise effectively, as trying to address everything at once can be counterproductive.
What advice would you offer to a company considering Inteliam's solution?
In Belgium, there's talk of making such evaluations mandatory by 2026. Starting with Inteliam now can give you a competitive edge. And of course, it's not just about compliance; it's about being proactive and staying ahead. The Inteliam process not only aligns with where the industry is heading but also helps focus on fundamental aspects of your business that are easy to overlook. It encourages a culture of continuous improvement and strategic foresight. It's an investment in your company's future, preparing you not just for impending regulations but also to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
What impact do you believe Inteliam is making in the industry?
The automotive aftermarket industry is witnessing a significant shift towards prioritising business processes and sustainability, and Inteliam is playing a crucial role in this transformation.
Inteliam scorecards are set to become a standard measure in business interactions. High-scoring companies on these assessments are increasingly viewed as preferred partners, effectively setting a benchmark for operational excellence and ethical business practices.
Niels Sanders, Managing Director, Sanders Parts
This trend is not just about meeting compliance standards; it's about driving the industry forward. Companies are now motivated to improve their practices, aiming to elevate their scores, which in turn enhances their market position and influence.
What are your future plans following this renewal?
Looking ahead, we are expanding our solar panel installations due to the electrification of our vehicle fleet. We have also committed to continuing with Inteliam's evaluations for the next three years, focusing on sustainability and business expertise. The Business Improvement Program is a significant boon, providing us with targeted strategies and helping us plan for future improvements. It offers a structured approach to tackling our key areas of focus, allowing us to systematically enhance various aspects of our operations.
